Shit Hitting The FanAs some of you may have read on my Facebook this morning, last night and perhaps a couple weeks ago, the 'ol SquirrelShaver has been going through some shit and I wanted to take a moment to clarify some issues.  As a professional artist sometimes these are lessons learned the hard way because the politics of the industry, comic books in particular, are so sensitive.    1st.) Don't sell yourself short when selling artwork. You put your time and effort, sweat and tears into every piece of art that you create and you, if no one else, should respect that. Set a price and stick with it. No one is coming to you at your job to haggle you about prices on sheet rock, a gallon of milk, or that awesome new purse that Coach just released right? First of all, I have to say how proud I am of all of you! You have done great in helping me collect the 63,600 points needed to give out 100 Premium Memberships!

Last night Deviantart posted an update on a new widget that is available to beta testers at the moment; deviantart commissions!
Yes it's a widget that want to make it easier to manage your commission and payments. I squeeled when I first saw the title on the article, because I think that in theory it's a really good idea!
But then I started reading the article for real, and I was not so impressed anymore...
For me, this widget has tre major flaws;
First off, the widget is kind of limited on what kind of commission you want to offer, and the price is more or less set in stone. One price for each offer.
That doesn't work for me since I sometimes raise or lower my price depending on details and backgrounds.
Second. The commissioners must pay me in dA points only if I use this widget.
No paypal, no other type of money transfer... just... points. It's just fucked up, and I see no reason that my commissioners should have to buy dA points to be able to commission me!

New updates!

Many new & interesting things have surfaced in my life online to help me connect with the art community better, and some of these may interest you.

Firstly I've finally setup my Livestream Channel and I have regular painting demonstrations for the community. If you curious about how I create my art and my different approaches, you are more than welcome to join me. Please remember to register yourself and put my channel in your watchlist so that you will get notified via emails whenever i broadcast my live sessions.

Secondly I have my dA chatroom called Artgermination, which dedicated to all Digital Art discussions. It has been running for a few months and it has now become a great place for many great artists to hang out and exchange art tips and knowledge. I am really involved with the chat regardless of my crazy working schedules and I am enjoying it. If you have some burning questions about digital art and the creative industry, do drop by for a chat.
