I WANT YOU!

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 20, 2007, 9:00 AM
Want to be an Imaginary Friend?

Ad

What are we looking for:
.............................................................................

1. Great digital painters! Photoshop or painter doesn’t matter!
2. If you are an amazing line artist, comic artist and/or concept artist- drop us a line, we aren’t actively looking but you might surprise us!
3. People who are already based in Singapore or Jakarta or are willing to work here.
4. People who aren’t afraid to spend insane amounts of time practically living in studio (ie forget your social life!)
5. We don’t care what qualifications you got. If you have a great portfolio, we’ll be happy to meet you.
6. People who aren’t expecting to be rich doing this. We are still a young studio (2 years old!) but we’re hoping for big things and hope everyone can grow together and get the benefits together. We aren’t the cheapest but we aren’t the best paying gig in town either.
7. MUST BE CRAZY. I mean it. The studio people are crazy about toys, games and movies. If you can work in such an atmosphere and contribute to the madness, this is a good thing. If you are a loner, hate talking to people etc, this might not work out!
8. DotA – if you play dota well, that’s extra points for sure! We regularly get challenged by other companies and studios!

But before you rush to send us stuff, here’s the lowdown:
.............................................................................

1. DO NOT send your portfolio in as attachments! We recommend you set up an online portfolio and send us the link- DA is great for this!
2. We might not be able to respond to every application- especially when we do a big call out such as this. We’re expecting quite a turnout.
3. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear from us- we have specific requirements at this point but at some point we might have need for someone like you- you never know!
4. Please don’t send us your story ideas! We’re sure they’re great but we aren’t in that mode currently.

Other information you should include:
.............................................................................

1. your age,
2. your country
3. your expected or current salary
4. any previous experience
5. any training
6. your online portfolio link
7. what you ultimately hope to achieve/do.
8. your contact information

Please send your application to careers@imaginaryfs.com

we meant social life OUTSIDE of the studio haha. Naturally the studio will be filled with artists- so you are never alone in studio!

Curses. Too far away.
Doubt I'd be good enough, anyway.

Though I have insanity in abundance, could this cover any other missing criteria?

Wooo...............

If I didn't have a boyfriend right now I would've considered this... if I was considered to begin with of course.

And the fact that most times I prefer to be the loner doesn't help too I guess.

As a fan of Kai's work, I'd sooooo wanna apprentice under him. Moooo. Siiiigh.

God, I so wish I could get up to the level enough to join you guys. After having my baby I've gained more confidence and lost my "I can't do it" attitude you last heard me do. I've just lost a little bit of time to draw at the moment with attempting to balance everything out. (Baby's just a month old so it's adjusting time.) Maybe whenever you get a chance to talk I can drop you a note or what not. Kinda miss talking to you the littlest bit we did.

You probably wouldn't answer this but is there a chance that people could join 20 years from now? Cause right now I'm in America (temporarily, I'm Singaporean and I'm most likely going back after college), I'm 13 and I'm still practicing on my own. I'm going to take classes in the near future so it'll be a while before I get close to the IFs standards :P.

Yo, like a lot of people replying here, someday I might be qualified for your studio but for now, your studio's artwork just blows me away.

I suspect you could probably get freelance work (i.e. talented people working from home) without having to open studios in different places in the world (unless a bunch of good artists are from the same location). I mean, that's probably cheaper from a business point of view but it means less real time collaboration between artists in person.

I hope your studio grows into something big though!

Cheers,
SS
