I WANT YOU!

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 20, 2007, 9:00 AM
Want to be an Imaginary Friend?

What are we looking for:
.............................................................................

1. Great digital painters! Photoshop or painter doesn’t matter!
2. If you are an amazing line artist, comic artist and/or concept artist- drop us a line, we aren’t actively looking but you might surprise us!
3. People who are already based in Singapore or Jakarta or are willing to work here.
4. People who aren’t afraid to spend insane amounts of time practically living in studio (ie forget your social life!)
5. We don’t care what qualifications you got. If you have a great portfolio, we’ll be happy to meet you.
6. People who aren’t expecting to be rich doing this. We are still a young studio (2 years old!) but we’re hoping for big things and hope everyone can grow together and get the benefits together. We aren’t the cheapest but we aren’t the best paying gig in town either.
7. MUST BE CRAZY. I mean it. The studio people are crazy about toys, games and movies. If you can work in such an atmosphere and contribute to the madness, this is a good thing. If you are a loner, hate talking to people etc, this might not work out!
8. DotA – if you play dota well, that’s extra points for sure! We regularly get challenged by other companies and studios!

But before you rush to send us stuff, here’s the lowdown:
.............................................................................

1. DO NOT send your portfolio in as attachments! We recommend you set up an online portfolio and send us the link- DA is great for this!
2. We might not be able to respond to every application- especially when we do a big call out such as this. We’re expecting quite a turnout.
3. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear from us- we have specific requirements at this point but at some point we might have need for someone like you- you never know!
4. Please don’t send us your story ideas! We’re sure they’re great but we aren’t in that mode currently.

Other information you should include:
.............................................................................

1. your age,
2. your country
3. your expected or current salary
4. any previous experience
5. any training
6. your online portfolio link
7. what you ultimately hope to achieve/do.
8. your contact information

Please send your application to careers@imaginaryfs.com

Question: is it an absolute requirement that you live in Singapore or are willing to move there? Is it possible to do this job over the internet?

at the moment, we're looking to work with artists here in our studio in Singapore. It really helps because our way of working is very collaborative.

*raises hand* I HAVE A QUESTION! o__o

First off, good luck to all those who applied xD I don't think I'm ready for doing that yet.

ANYWAYS- This studio thing, I don't quite understand how all of that works. Do comic-book/gaming/misc companies hire people from the studio, pay them to do arts, and thats how everyone is paid?
I'm sorry if this comes off as a retarded question but I might as well ask now and use my age as a cover for my naivety o_<

not a dumb question- to be honest, different studios have different operating philosophy. For us the clients hire us as a studio and we distribute the projects internally among those that are interested and capable. So when a warhammer project comes in, the warhammer fans will rush for assignments haha

... Aaahh I understand xD And the money is split between those who participate in the projects?

actually no, the artists get a monthly salary like a normal job - so they enjoy financial security instead of worrying when the client will pay up.
