sketch (45mins) -> Lineart (1.5hr) -> Grayscale (2hrs) -> Final colouring (3hrs)

All steps done in Painter.

Sometimes I paint in grayscale, sometime not. Depending on the final style I want. But it is relatively easier to get the good tonal values when painting in grayscale. :)

is it better to do it in gray scale before coloring?, does it make it easier for shadowing? great work btw

Wow! The process is really impressive. What kind of graphic tablet do you use? Wacom? If yes, Intuos or Cintiq? And do you use watercolor or another tool?

I've been looking for that answer too, for quite some months actually.

I may be wrong, but I think using a multiply layer over the grayscale will do the trick
