A mascot illustration created for the new Manga Studio 5. This new version is an awesome upgrade with added coloring capability based on the very popular illustration software Clip Studio Pro from Japan. Now u can create full color pro quality illustrations on top of the b&w manga art that Manga Studio is famous for. :-D

UPDATE: Many has asked if this image was created in MS5, strictly speaking, it wasn't. I didn't have MS5 with me while working on this so I used Clip Studio Paint (Japanese version of MS5) instead. The sketch and linework were done in Clip Studio as well as the coloring. It was then imported to Photoshop for color edits and adding textures. Glad that this great software supports PSD files. :)

I used SAI before but it didn't like to work with my Intuos5. I discovered this program and don't regret buying it. It's just like SAI and a million times more. I also love this cover design. Made me want to buy the physical copy :)

I saw a copy of this program the other day at fry's and swore it was your art style. So today I looked it up and I was right. Your art style is so incredibly distinguished that I'd recognize it anywhere ^^

I use the program myself for a lot of figure drawings, very simple to use. Trying to get used to the realistic painting controls. Unlike photoshop where you have to blend in colors you added, MangaStudio5 paints like the real thing.

I was looking at EX4 and 5 it would seem that EX 4 has more options with in the program, and 5 adds more for color (guessing that EX 5 will be the more complete version of both of these). I am looking at either of these version of the program so in your opinion which is a better more complete studio software?

What is it, exactly that's making you skeptical?

I was looking to see which would be the best purchase to make, I decided to go with 5 now I just need to start to work with it. I was hoping it had more similarities to Photoshop but it looks to have a different learning curve.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Artwork-wise, MS5 can do anything that PS can do. The quality in color is just to die for in MS5! (considering that it's technically CSP with a different name). After getting MS5, I found myself using it rather than using PS cs6. Although some might still use PS when editing their works. But as for me, I don't like the idea of switching between softwares just so I can tweak an art a bit. MS5 is a huge leap from MS 4ex .

Basically, if you're going for manga creations and CG artworks, I suggest MS5, but if you're also leaning towards photo-editing, you should go for PS.

Hope this helps :)
